Following last week's message to you, we were delighted, though not surprised, that so many of you have already risen to the challenge of confronting the Marris Bill. We are grateful for all messages - to which we are still responding - and donations received already.
Again, we urge you to use (and share) our facility for making contact with MPs - www.carenotkilling.org.uk/Bill2015 - as soon as possible. As well as urging them to attend the debate on 11 September to oppose the Bill, we again ask that you also urge MPs to attend the lobby day being hosted by Glyn Davies MP on Tuesday 14 July (1-3pm, Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House - contact depulfordl@parliament.uk for more details) and that, if you have a strong personal case to make, you attend yourself.
But, if you are able to make contact with your MP over this weekend, we also now ask that you urge their attendance at a special briefing event in Parliament this coming Tuesday (7th July) hosted by Fiona Bruce MP:
Professor Nigel Biggar (Regius Professor of Moral & Pastoral Theology, University of Oxford) will speak on 'The Arguments Against Assisted Dying'.
The event (7pm - 8.30pm, Tuesday 7th July in the Attlee Suite, Portcullis House, Westminster) is also open to members of the public. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to johnny.monro@parliament.uk.
MPs need to be informed and persuaded, and we all have a role to play.
If you haven't already, please visit www.carenotkilling.org.uk/Bill2015 as soon as possible.
