Former MPs sitting in the House of Lords

More than 1-in-5 peers in the House of Lords (as of June 2025) are ex-MPs, with others having served as MSPs, MSs and MLAs. If your former representative is among them, do you know their stance on the Leadbeater Bill as it moves to the upper house for further consideration?

If an ex-parliamentarian for your area is listed below (the first list, of MPs, is ordered by nations of the UK), why not write to them, expressing your concerns about the Bill? We have excluded (from the list below) some peers who have expressed particularly strong public support or opposition to legalising assisted suicide, but positions can shift over time, and we have also seen many who support “assisted dying” in principle oppose this bill.

You can send a hard copy letter* addressed as follows:

e.g. The Rt Hon Lord Blue of Green

House of Lords

London

Dear Lord Blue,

*(Many peers have limited staff support, or none at all, and so many do not engage by email as it would be impossible to keep up with easily generated electronic communications. You are of course free to email them if they list an email address on their Parliamentary profile, or else send an email marked “FAO Lord Blue of Green”, for example, to contactholmember@parliament.uk)
